How does your game meet GBJam's theme
In this game, “old” is not just an aesthetic or a sign of weakness. As you age and become more damaged, you also become rarer, more powerful, and more valuable — turning “gold” into a measure of increasing worth rather than literal gold.

The more you wear down, the stronger and more valuable you become, but also the closer you get to breaking.

I think the gameplay mechanic is interesting, although the game itself is ultimately rather simple in nature.

Some thought can be given to the idea of extending this project so that it comprises the core gameplay loop of an RPG.

Yoooo pretty neat game! The mechanics were intuitive right away and I liked the enemy designs you went for. That was really creative!

Submitted(+1)

Simple and effective, would have liked a way to know exactly how much health I or the enemy had, but in a sense vibing it out was part of the fun.

Good job!

i was confused at the start cause i didn't first understand how the mechanic worked, but after i  realized what was going on and spotted that the enemies say the attack what they going to do next, this game became really fun :D

visually the game is pretty and i found it funny how the death effect appears :D and the difficulty is just right

solid game :)

As many others are saying, the concept of your lack of health becoming damage is very interesting, kudos for thinking of that. Alongside that mechanic, the game being a puzzle game (rather than an RPG, which I assumed from looks before playing) makes balancing your health fun rather than a chore. I appreciate how losing a fight doesn't mean starting completely over, even if that's only the case because it's a jam game. I hope you continue to work on this one!

Intresting concept. The glass canon aspect of it is cool!

Fun short game!

Really liked the concept and the gameplay loop!

Neat game! Congrats!!!

Cool solution — the weaker you become, the harder you hit the enemy :) this completely flips the usual idea of weapon power. It’s a good, non‑banal interpretation of the theme!

The sprites are very cute and drawn very neatly!

I love mechanic of balancing on low hp. Nice art and whole game. Congrats

The turn based combat being puzzles to solve was very fun. Loved how the second theme was used and also how the music would speed up and slow down depending on how hurt you were.

Submitted(+1)

Ooh I love turn-based combat! Art is really charming, and the music is nicely done. Gameplay feels nice and smooth, and I really like the main concept of the game! Very much enjoyed playing this one, keep it up ^^

At first, I didn't quite understand how to play. I was even winning, but I didn't grasp *how* I was winning. It was only over time that I figured things out and started devising specific tactics for different opponents. The gameplay concept and the interpretation of the theme are very interesting. The visual style and color palette are very pleasing—though the way defeated enemies fly off-screen does clash slightly with the overall style)

I think the idea behind this game is worth developing further after the game jam. Good luck!

Oh yay, I haven't seen many turn based battle games in the jam so far. Took me a minute to understand the number of actions I got each turn, but other than that, this was cool!

Thought main character design was very cool. Made me think megaman battlenetwork designs. Getting stronger the more beat up you get is a nice mechanic and promotes videogame violence which I whole heartedly endorse. It really made me think about when to guard and when to just go all in.

Each fight felt like its own little turn-based puzzle. Clever combat system, and the sprites look great too.

Developer

Many Thanks!! I’m honoured to have contributed to videogame violence lol.

That little turn-based puzzle feel is exactly what I was going for.

Haha, this is so much fun! Took me a while to figure out how to defeat the first one, but then I got it. Keep going!

Developer

Thanks! I’m glad you had fun!!

Interesting game concept. It took me a few rounds to understand all the UI elements (how many actions a turn, how many turns you have, etc) but once I understood that, it was pretty easy to work through. Nice artwork too.

Developer(+1)

Many Thanks! That’s absolutely really helpful feedback.

Interesting concept!

My only nitpick would be that it is not immediately apparent that there is a fourth possible action (“defend”), maybe a small arrow pointing down to show that you can scroll would solve that.

Other than that, this is a cool entry :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks, that’s a helpful point to consider! I think a small visual cue would work well there.

Submitted(+1)

This concept is pretty cool! I'd love to see it pushed further.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you like the concept. I’d definitely like to push the idea further someday!

The durability system is really cool. It reminded me of a mechanic from Octopath Traveler. Very cool concept!

Developer

Thanks! I’m glad you like it!

I really liked the combat system, and the character sprites look great too. Nice work!

TYSM!!
