The game feel and screen juice on this are incredible! Linking every bullet shot to human sacrifices while inspecting suspicious dice builds a super tense, high-stakes atmosphere that fits the "Don't Trust" theme perfectly. The minimal two-color pixel palette and horror audio design give it such a stylish, retro identity.
Since you're gathering feedback for post-jam updates, a few mechanical polish and clarity ideas could really elevate the experience:
- Standard Pips & Icon Clarity: Use traditional dice pip layouts (or scale up the die faces slightly) so players can read values at a glance without struggling to count tiny dots on the fly.
- Clear Shot & Round Feedback: Implement that distinct human scream vs. monster death sound cue, and add a quick clear/fail UI banner at the end of each building so players know if they actually eliminated the terror dice.
- Transition Bug & Rule Variety: Fix the level transition bug that forces fail screens even when all terror dice are cleared, and expand building-specific rules to give each town area more replayable deduction mechanics.
Phenomenal game feel, crisp 2-color art style, and an awesome core loop! If you get a free minute, I'd really appreciate your feedback and rating on my solo jam entry as well: /jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523
This is a very cool and unique concept, and very fun! The art style and music are lovely too. Good job!
Damn does this game have JUICE
I don't have much criticism to offer past what others have already said: A bit clearer explanation of "two sides," some tighter balance, and a bit more variation in the what rules the dice follow would all help this game tremendously. Great work with what's here, though! Excellent, crisp use of colors, pixel art, and sound effects.
Very interesting core mechanic! Having to inspect each die before shooting can be a bit difficult. Every bullet requires a sacrifice, which creates a lot of tension. I also really like the visual style of the game. Nice job!
Very cool game. I was a bit confused in the beginning, because I thought it was opposite sides. Got it after a few tries tho. In my opinion the sacrifices are too generous, I didn't really get the feeling to be careful with the shooting. Everything else worked really well though!
I like the idea of paying health to select a higher difficulty level at any time, especially if it was tuned so I have 1-shot on the high difficulty for high reward. I felt the challenge with counting eyes came from the tiny graphics rather than my inability to count fast. Enjoyed it overall.
Excellent, excellent! This was very fun and super polished. Quite creepy! I survived with 22 people - which was better than when I decided to go Rambo next and survived with 11 people. Keep going back to how polished things are and the game loop itself. I only wish there was a little more replayability with variations on how to tell which were terror dice, or towns with more rules or random buildings.
I think I remember you from the last Brackey's - cool to see you keep making cool projects!
This is really cool! The art and the sound effects are very atmospheric. Input feedback is really effective.
Really fun idea! I liked having to check the dice before shooting instead of just firing at everything. It made the game feel a lot more tense than I expected. The visuals and sound fit the style really well too. I was a bit confused at first about whether I was making the right choices, so a little more feedback could help. Overall, really creative and enjoyable!
The game is good overall. The minimal art palette and spooky music set the perfect mood. However, the core mechanic of killing the dice isn't fully polished yet; for example, sometimes even after killing the correct number of terror dice in the gatehouse, the house doesn't get cleared. The distinct features of the other buildings' terror dice are a nice idea, but they just don't seem to apply properly to the dice. Overall, it's a neat idea, but it needs a bit more mechanical polishing
Thanks. Yeah I agree, like other people mentioned here that there is some feedback missing if you do the right thing which lead to player confusion. There is also some bugs (like the one you mentioned), which lead to more confusion about what to do. But the feedback here is very helpful to improve the game thanks again for playing.
There is something really interesting about the core gameloop, I really think this is something you should work on further. The game was also super responsive, I can't describe why or how but it felt like I was clicking before I could click. Love the two-color palette. I was slightly confused about what I needed to do, so I just kept killing shit, and it worked out haha! Great game.
I really like this minimalist two-color palette.
As mentioned in some previous comments, the feedback when killing a dice isn't very clear.
Neat idea! But I had a really hard time telling if I was shooting the right dice. Without any feedback either level wise or monster wise. I think they are supposed to sound different or the human counter is supposed to go down if you hit a human? Either way you still did a nice job. Nice art too!
