good game i was so lost in the corridors i swear i looped the game 3 times over. damn rick.

I enjoyed my time with the game after some getting used to it. I think it is very beneficial that opened doors stay open when you die, otherwise I surely would've quit the game at some point haha, as well as having frequent check points. The theme is also very clearly visible in your game. One thing I did not really like (I mean, I think that was kind of your intent) is that I felt really lost at points and never knew if I really made progress or not and sometimes I even proceeded and didn't know why! It all felt a liiittle bit too directionless and troll-ey. Nevertheless I played it to the end (1st ending? Maybe there are more...). P.S. I liked the meta signs in that one corridor, especially the quote-unquote "AI-generated" one, nice detail!

Developer(+1)

Sounds like you reachead The End? Did you interact with the button behind?
But what is behind that mysterious door? No one knows :)

Thanks for playing! Happy you enjoyed it!
We tried to keep smth in between "too chaotic/unclear at all" and "bold direct leading the player by hand through the game". Maybe sometimes it still to unclear what to do.

"AI Generated" - that was my meta joke as if we used AI and forgot to remove this text :D
I'm so happy people actually read the signs. We were afraid that too much signs make people ignore them completly. But signs are a kind of core of the game.

Submitted(+1)

I cannot believe how evil the signs are, I also cannot believe that got rick rolled.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

One can not simply spent a day w/o rick rolling another person :D
Hope you enjoyed and hope you managed to unlock The Door, survive an acid room, escape  a dark labyrinth and finally find The End, "unimportant" and green :)

Submitted(+1)

No way I got rick rolled  in a game jam lmao

Developer

Rick rolling as a sense of life :D

Hope you enjoyed and hope you managed to unlock The Door, survive an acid room, escape  a dark labyrinth and finally find The End, "unimportant" and green :)

Damn this game reminded me of of the old rage bait platformers where they just make the floor disappear from under you. 10/10 rage bait, good stuff.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for playing!

Hope you managed to unlock The Door, survive an acid room, escape  a dark labyrinth and finally find The End, "unimportant" and green :)

I think the idea was good. I can't reach the end, the maze in Act 2 blew my mind and I couldn't find the path. It was way too tricky for me.

Developer (1 edit)

You should press the buttons on the wall whenever you see them and just intuitively go where it goes. Press buttons, go, new torches lit on, the sign at some moment says to follow torches - you follow them, new torches lit on and hint you are on the right way, and you finally exit.

This part was done by another team member - I dont know what is behind the scene, so I play as just a player not dev and everytime it just somehow leads me to the exit. I cant say it is really a puzzle or real labyrinth, rather "semi-puzzle labyrinth alike walking" :D

Hope it helps!
Thanks for playing :)

I played through with a buddy and we didn't get to the end, but what we did play didn't really feel like a game. I kinda wished it had been a more serious game, instead of just trying to troll the player. Some of the long hallway text was funny but it got a bit old after the first several signs. We just weren't really sure what we were supposed to be doing.

We initally just gave up after the rickroll but tried it again after reading the game's page. The torches kept scaring the crap out of my buddy, which was pretty fun. I'm glad he played through it, though, because I don't like mazes or puzzles and was getting frustrated even just watching. We eventually quit again because we got stuck in a loop and couldn't progress. Good effort, but not for me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a try with your buddy! Totally understand your point - this is definitely a niche genre. It’s built specifically around meta-humor, misdirection, and puzzle-mechanics where signs and logic can actively work against you. If you're not into mazes, trick puzzles, or rage-lite mechanics, it can definitely feel more frustrating than fun.

It's not trying to be a deep narrative or a serious adventure; it's a tight interactive experiment/troll-puzzle game where figuring out how the game is messing with you is the gameplay loop. And it has a beginning, it has an end (final room), and that half-puzzle, half-troll journey from Start to End. Pretty much a game if you ask me :D

Appreciate the honest feedback anyway, and glad at least the torch scares gave you and your friend a few laughs!

P.S. You better not try Escape Room games on Steam - they force you to stop every 10-15 minutes because you have no idea what to do, unless you run through every room and item all over again to connect the dots. Not that fun unless you're a real escape room lover.

P.S. What would you personally recommend adding to the game to make it feel like a proper game to you? Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

It's a great game.

It fooled me time and time again.

Developer

Thanks for playing!
Hope you have opened The Door, survived an acid, escaped a labyrinth, met our friend Rick and finally went through The  "unimportant green" End :)

Submitted(+1)

loved the humor. cool game

Developer

Thanks for playing! Hope you were able to reach "The End" screen.
Or at least get to know our friend Rick :)

Submitted(+1)

The aesthetics were a bit hard to digest and the audio was a bit grating, but I did enjoy the 8 bit render of the 'troll' in there!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Having just 2 devs + 1 QA and NO ART person was harsh.  Trust me, bro, our code is cool, solid, flexible and more pleasant to eyes than aesthetics :D

But jokes aside, yes, we are more tech people... We did our best, but definitely our strongest part is code, not arts. In our minds the dungeon looked much better, but we were limited by time and experience. Happy you still enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

P.S. It looks much better on a desktop. The web version cut the quality a lot :(

Submitted(+1)

Not a big fan of rage games. Having the player find out what to do just by trial and error is not for me. But I am a big fan of the visuals and the dungeon synth music that plays in the background.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you loved the music :) Some people seem to hate it... but it's a matter of taste in the end :)
Hope you have opened The Door, survived an acid, escaped a labyrinth, met our friend Rick and finally went through The  "unimportant green" End :)

I did most of those things but then got stuck. I tried to use this screenshot from the initial fall as a map untill I started getting teleported around and gave up after falling into the labyrinth for a second time.

Developer(+1)

Regarding labyrinth, you should press the buttons on the wall whenever you see them and just intuitively go where it goes. Press buttons, go, new torches lit on, the sign at some moment says to follow torches (this time it doesnt lie) - you follow them, new torches lit on and hint you are on the right way, and you finally exit.

This part was done by another team member - I dont know what is behind the scene, so I play as just a player not dev and everytime it just somehow leads me to the exit. I cant say it is really a puzzle or real labyrinth, rather "semi-puzzle labyrinth alike walking".  It is not really about real labyrinth where you try to find the only right path. It is more about going where the game leads you.  :D

Hope it helps! Thanks for playing and appreciate you trying to beat it :)

P.S. After the labyrinth - if you click all buttons and follow the lights - you should appear in a new location. Short Act 3 with some activities. After this you should appear in another place there should be bold green hint where to find The End.

We might create a walkthrough video and share if anyone is curious to see the end but dont want to re-play :)

I'm having trouble figuring out how to get past the sign where it says you have to jump.

Developer

You literally have to trust and jump below. Nothing bad happens :D
Overall game rule - try to follow signs and do what they say or do the opposite. They whether lie or not. Worst case you respawn at the checkpoint. Else you will solve the puzzle and proceed. Hope it helps. Good luck!

Submitted(+1)

I loved the map and the idea, but it is a bit confusing. Nontheless very well made !

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! Appreciate it :)

Were you able to open "The Door"? Did you interact with a "Safe Button"? Have you seen acid, dark labyrinth? How about "The End" Screen? :)
If not please reference some tips on the game page - else just ask question here and we help to reach the end :)

Submitted

i didnt know how to get past the acid and the door sign at the begining

Developer (1 edit)

"The Door" has a related hint in another place that also mentions "The Door"
Acid part a bit confusing - the acid regulation button also unlocks a door in the acid room. Hope you figure this out :)

Submitted(+1)

This plays like those goofy school projects you'd do when you're bored in school. Nostalgia for sure. Is the game ending at rickroll or is there something more?

Developer (2 edits)

It depends how and when you reached this part.
There was "The Door". If you opened it - you likely seen everything and reached "The Safe Button" at the end.
But as seems you never opened the "Not Important Door", you likely never finished the Prologue, else you would open it and seen the real ending.

"The Door" is written in quotes for a purpose, later you see another sign that says smth about "The Door" :)  After that Door you have a whole big part of the game.

Anyway, thanks for playing!

P.S. The whole red/orange part with Treasury is a Prologue. After that you have Act 1, Act 2, short Act 3, The End.

Submitted(+1)

Fun little game with a nice gimmick. I don’t think I will ever trust a sign again. And I don’t trust if I have finished the game or not yet. Puzzles were fun but some verging on the rage bait. But just enough annoyance without going too overboard. tle game with a nice gimic

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Just so you know: There is Prologue (Corridor, Treasury, Long Corridor), Act 1, Act 2, Act 3, The End.
All doors in the prologue zone can be opened. Just pay attention to signs and sounds.

Some doors are activated after you do smth else. "The Door" is written in quotes for a purpose, later you see another sign that says smth about "The Door" :)

You get "The End" when you reach it, as it says it on the screen.

Submitted(+1)

Good. So I got to the end then. I was wondering if it was like the signs and lying :P As there was a door behind it.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, it was a tricky door and a button. Is there anything behind? Secret ending? No one knows :D
