How does the game fit the theme?
Every stranger offers cards with a claim that may be true or false. The player can only peel back a corner for limited information before deciding whether to take the card, discard it, or shoot. Every decision is built around mistrust and uncertainty.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Code:
Some of the card-handling code comes from a personal practice project I built before the jam. I reused that card feel and rebuilt the rest of the game around this week's theme.

Well done, this was excellent. I just spent an hour and a half playing it instead of sleeping!

This is by far one of my favorites from the jam, such an elegant game loop that's beautifully iterated. Well done!

I got pretty addicted to this one!  I feel like I constantly have tradeoffs to make.  Keeping liars alive to keep my options open, juggling my limited draws / discards / bullets, obviously gambling on the poker hands, etc.  The game felt a bit too easy once you get the ball rolling, but maybe that's the point :).  It felt good rolling in lots of $$$, though it would be nice if there were ways to gamble with that money or more things in the store to spend it on.  By midgame I was easily buying everything available and I completely forgot I had a debt to pay lol.  Excellent work!

absolutely amazing, I went to rate the game, then realised how good it is, so I just ended up giving it 5/5

This game is absolutely fantastic! It’s incredibly polished, and the game juice is on point. Everything feels so satisfying, especially all the visual feedback and effects. Really excellent work!

Very well polished gameplay. Loved the concept

Easy to learn and incredibly polished. Love these kinds of card games :D

Great Balatro coded game. Love how I have to strategize between killing a guy for a meta progress over getting more cards. It felt very easy and lacking a bit more juice, but nothing I'd score less over during a jam. Played on stream here:

I spent way too long playing this, holy. It's incredibly well-polished; it feels like a game I'd find on Steam. Felt like a mix between Balatro and Buckshot Roulette. 5/5.

As someone who has played a lot of Balatro, I liked it :)

really loved this balatro spin for this theme

Loved this game so much! I kept playing in endless until I had unlocked everything. Very well polished, the music is good, love the SFX and the button shake when hovering. I think it really only lacks some difficulty, but I like it this way too as a relaxing game. I never ran out of money and I could always buy all of the upgrades when they were offered if I'd unlocked the tier. Great job, definitely one of my favorites!

Great game!

This was genuinely a nice one. Don't know what it was, but the Balatro-inspired UI was good. Game was REALLY enjoyable, loved it!!

very cool! it was honestly strangely relaxing

Whoa cool! At first I was abit frustrated with the UI but then I got really into it and played for around half an hour. Super good gameplay! One question...  is there an upside to shooting the lying hand?

Developer

Cheers! Yes, you can only keep upgrading by killing people and collecting their souls. It seems I didn’t make that clear enough. Thanks for the feedback!

This is a great concept for a full game to develop, I but i think you see to much of the time the card of the hands. Which makes it a bit to easy, i went to tier 4 then had to pay to much xD

I LOVE THIS! This could totally become something larger if you wanted, the core concept is so cool. Some new weapons would be fun, agh this idea is so so so good. My only complaint is that there isn't more!!

Cheers! Thanks for the feedback!

I liked the concept, but the game is a little long and the music is very quiet (idk if it's cuz of my laptop). Enjoyed it!
