How does the game fit the theme?
This is an endless runner where every land gives you three clues, but one may be lying. You have to work out which information to trust before you reach it. You do so by scrunching your keyboard to make an Origami shape.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made the paper origami by hand, and photoshot them. I made any visual asset, except few stock free to use things. Audios are all or mostly free assets from itch or youtube.

How many people worked on the game?

I love to know how u can think about this!

Developer

Just an idea I had for a while. Seemed whacky, glad people like it :)

Submitted

This is the most innovative game I've played so far!  The scrunch system is super satisfying. Great job!

Developer

Love your name! If I continue this game I'll make a paper duck shape in your honor.

Submitted

I am so impressed by your work! What a unique way to control movement. And in just 7 days? Amazing!

Developer

Thanks buddy!

This is a great game. Good job! :)

I got a score of around 3000.

swiping 6 t g b and watching the sheet fold into a boat is the most novel control i have touched this jam, and then the water ahead turned out to be the lie and the run ended with landscape lied at 434m, which is the theme done as a mechanic not a story. the photographed paper looks great too, brilliant entry

Developer

Thanks a lot dude! 434 is kinda low give it another shot!

That's a great idea for this theme, the gameplay is also very innovative, it's really challenging at higher speeds but overall it was a pretty well made game. Great job.

Developer

Thanks a lot man!

A great idea, very original ♥ Unfortunately, I don't know what exactly is causing it, whether it's my mechanical keyboard, it’s harder to smoothly run your fingers across it, or something in the game, but it didn't detect at least half of my movements. I had the biggest problem with transforming into a plane, it usually didn't detect that movement at all, the boat was detected a bit more often, and the ball was detected most often. Other than that, it's a really great game and idea. It fits the theme well and it's interesting that you had to read the surroundings very quickly and react immediately. Good job!

Thanks a lot! Yes, I've been getting different feedback about the gesture inputs, and what I can conclude for now is that every keyboard really matters. Some find it easier to do one shape over the other, it's not a specific shape type of problem, more of a everyone has a different type of keyboard so each gesture is harder. I have ideas on how I would fix that, including a session at the start where the game optimizes your gesture by you inputting the gesture several times, so that way its tailored to your keyboard. Anyways, thanks a lot :)

Unique idea, fits the theme very well, never seen these controls. Great! Don't know why, but it does not always take my input. Should I be able to switch to any shape at any moment? If not, would be nice if I could :)

Developer

Yes, you should be able to change at any given moment. What issue did you face, if you could tell me? It's still a work in progress obviously :)

Submitted

OK, I understand what I did wrong. For instance, it says go from 6 to B. So I tried that multiple times, and eventually it says that I did OK and continues the tutorial. (for the airplane, Q and P). However, I now understand that the game wants me to do 6-T-G-B. That works every time. Took me a while to figure out :)

Developer

Not just you, I need to find a way to really explain the mechanic better. Thanks for your feedback.

THIS WAS SO FUN TO PLAY!!!! The controls were legit so fun to use (though my fingers and keyboard might have suffered a bit) But creating new controls as a solo dev in just 7 days and making a full blown game (along with a proper tutorial) is absolutely crazy! This is living permanently in my collections to play later.

Developer(+1)

Such high praise, thank you buddy!

Submitted

Most unique controls that I encountered until now! Need to get used to the control for a while to get the hang of it. Even impressive that you managed to make this work in 7 days! Well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Yea its an idea I wanted to try out for a while glad you liked it.

Interesting concept, very original. It was a bit frustrating, i'm not sure why but the crunching ball was working really randomly for me, i suspect it's because i'm on an azerty keyboard rather then qwerty. Anyway good job nonetheless, solid entry!

Developer

Its definitely because you have an azerty keyboard. The game reads the position of the key in your keyboard and generates the gesture, it was built on a Qwerty keyboard. I wanted to have an option where you pick your keyboard first but unfortunately didnt have the time. But if I continue this project its something ill def do. Thanks for playing!

This control scheme is epic! Love the innovation, was a lot more fun than I first thought it was going to be!

Developer

Thanks man! Really enjoyed your game!

What a weird idea, and weirder still that you've managed to pull it off so well.

I really like the concept and would love to see it iterated upon. I almost feel like the theme of the jam is a detriment to the experience you're trying to convey. Very nice entry.

Developer

Thanks a lot! Yes I'm planning to develop this further. And yes I had the gesture idea before the jam :)

Submitted(+1)

Pretty unique idea. It's unlike anything I've played before.

Using the whole keyboard as a gesture input is a really cool concept, and it works surprisingly well.

The only minor issue I ran into was at around the 3,000m mark. I had the origami ship and tried switching to another origami, but it seemed to get stuck and wouldn't change.

Overall, great work! Really creative concept and fun to play.

Developer(+1)

Can you tell me more about this issue? So you had half a boat or a full boat? And it wouldnt change at all? Or did it take time to change?

Thanks for playing, really enjoyed your game.

Submitted(+1)

I had a full boat and tried to crumble it. I tried twice, but it didn’t seem to work. I might have made the wrong move, though. I also tried turning it into an airplane, and that didn’t seem to work either, so I ended up restarting.

Again, don’t take my word for it, I might have just botched the moves :P

Developer

Got it! Thanks man.

Very interesting idea and gameplay mechanism! Well done!

Hahaha, glad I proved your first impression wrong lol. Love your game btw!

Submitted(+1)

OMG, this is amazing! Game was actually really fun. Kept getting frustated, because I would confuse air with water. I loved it, congrats on your creativity!!

Developer

Thanks man! Really loved your game.

5 stars for innovation immediately. I’ve never seen controls like these, it’s so cool! It’s super difficult figuring out what’s not matching up when going super fast, so I’d never get a super high streak XD

But it’s so much fun. Really great job!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot man! It really means so much coming from you, I loved your game.
