How does the game fit the theme?
In a market full of scammers, you need to keep the market safe by reporting them.
You can't trust the sellers or the bank!
Can you even trust your own mom...
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
All assets were made by our team, except the font, all code was made from scratch

this a pretty neat game and I love the art
i could play this game all day tbh, i love farmer games a lot
if you made this into an actual game, with tasks, quests, other npcs, i would honestly play it
loved it so much!!!!
Thanks for playing! :D
Cute game! Nice visual style, I really liked the top down view of the hat at the farm, really goofy.
Interesting idea, having to pay attention so shopkeepers don't scam you. I really like the idea, but for sure more could be added to it so it could be more complex. Maybe also have some consequences for reporting shopkeepers, like sellers not wanting to do business with you or maybe not wanting to give you secret hints.
I think the visuals are my favorite aspect of the game. And also, the gameplay is cohesive, it has a full loop. But it could be filled with even more!
Great to see some frame by frame animated cutscenes! Very cute style. I managed to deposit the 10,000 but I had a feeling I might get ripped off haha
Thanks for completing the game! could you also tell how long it took for you to complete the game, so that we can adjust the difficulty if needed.
If I had to guess I'd say about 30min...?
First off, I really like the art in the game, and having not just 1 but 2 cutscenes was really cool! The idea was quite creative, and it hit that fun incremental game feel. My main criticism though is that it feels like there's a lot of mechanics that don't add much to the game, like for example, I don't get why you made a whole inventory system with items you can drop and pickup when it's never relevant. I find it quite impressive how much you were able to make in the time, but I feel like it could've been more focused on one central idea. Still, it was quite fun and I think the main mechanic of reporting scammers was quite fun and satisfying and the game as a whole was really charming and fun, great job!
Thanks for the review! For most of us, it was our first game jam so we kinda planned a game way too big for the jam without thinking too much about it, the amount of features is a result of sleeping at 5 pretty much everyday along with multiple all nighters towards the end and some features feeling less integrated is also a result of not having enough time to make everything come together, I guess the main takeaway for all of us is to only plan around a central idea instead trying to make a full-fledged game with too many featuees 🥲.
Haha, yeah, that's usually the first jam experience! Still though that was great for a first game jam, I hope you guys keep at it :D
The opening was so cute! I love the art and music! I def got scammed too much. Very fun, very good. The ONLY improvement I'd suggest is: Please anchor your text. Text that appears character by character shouldn't shift the whole textbox to the left. it makes it very hard to read until its done typing.
Thanks for your review! I didn't see it from the perspective of a new player due to me already knowing dialogs, but that def sounds annoying. We'll definitely fix it in the morning!
Was scammed by three diferent animals, 10/10, would recommend!
haha nice to see you had a good experience, thanks for the review!
I really like the cat and the intro cutscene!
Happy you liked the cat and the intro cutscene! And Thanks for playing!
I had to stop playing to make sure I don't forget this: That intro cutscene was FANTASTIC, just make a whole series at this point.. jokes aside: curious thing: If I adjusted the volume of my headphones the character would move left; don't ask me why. So, the music and art is really charming and cozy, it could get a little polish but looks good as is now. I like the sellers being scammers, nice adding; I would suggest a system to negotiate buy and sell prices, would add a bit of choice for the player than just going for once shop or another. I didn't understand why the mother would ask for 500 money each time, and it would happen a lot without the player actually receiving anything. Should I not trust my mom ;_; ? Would have liked to be able to edit the settings from the game and not only from the main menu; I had to lower the pc's volume directly. For last but not least, I couldn't really get much more than I spent to get to that amount of money. Like I would start with 1100 and would get 850 in the end; Might be me not balancing good but it didn't feel satisfying. Overall good concept and I personally played it a lot.
Thanks for playing the game! Settings can be adjusted during the game, by pressing ESC, sorry we werent able to make that clear anywhere in the game 😔, it's only briefly mentioned on the game page so its understandable people missed it
The game is actually supposed to give you around a 50 percent profit for a perfect seedbag along with selling to an innocent shopkeeper, you might be selling regularly to scammers! you can pretty much get the feel for prices of sell shops by visiting a few, we bumped up the difficulty of the game a lot in the last balance patch as we messed up som parameters before and ended up having a super easy game, we might make minor tweaks to make it slightly easier!
I see! I called the police quite a lot of times too; this scammers... I tried with ESC but on the browser version it just escaped from full screen, not sure if doing it twice would have worked.
hmm, noted that this problem exists, I'll add a button for settings to all scenes so its easier.
This update has been made, now theres a dedicated settings button! I also adjusted the game's difficulty a bit :)
Cute setup with the cat farmer, and the whole checking produce / market prices thing is a fun twist for the theme. The little cutscene bits were a nice surprise too. I was a tiny bit unsure sometimes if a seller was actually scamming me, but the idea is super solid, nice job :)
Thanks for the review! (also a dev secret, scammers price carrots at around 1-2 coins)
My goodness. I was only going to play for a little, but I found myself wanting to keep clicking and playing more. I didn't know you could hold the mouse button down and swipe across the screen to water and harvest your crops more efficiently so that was helpful once I figured that out so it wasn't so tedious! The art is SO cute! I love how you turned a cozy game to match the theme as well <3 This was my goal with my game too! I denied helping my mom with her payment the first time, but then I did the second time and she just straight up wasted my money it seems xD
FANTASTIC work!!
Cute as hell farming game. Hard to profit in an untrustworthy climate, but the challenge is fun. :>
Thanks for the review! Making the game harder was a part of our balance patch, I'm glad you found it challenging!
First game I've seen that attempted a cut scene which was a nice surprise lol. It was really cute and I enjoyed it! Good job guys! (There was a little bug where one of the crop plots just wouldn't grow and they can't be removed but no big deal)
hey! thanks for playing the game and reporting the bug!
A very cute game with a genuine in-game economy, well done.
thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
really enjoy it! i love farming game! the price fluctuation is what makes it different than normal farming game, i grow lots of crops and realize there is bad potato and sicly potato, i went straight back to the seller and call the police! love it! good game! good art, animation and music too!
It's a very cozy little game. Perhaps too much for my taste. It felt like it was dragging on in my opinion, but I recognize that it might be the right pace for someone who isn't looking for the fast-paced incremental style growth that I'm used to. The graphics were nice and the entire atmosphere felt very warm.
Haha, I was not having cozy farming sim with scammers on my list for this game jam, but here we are. Love the art of this as well. Looking at it, I was not expecting moments such as mom calling right after I bought my first seeds "can I borrow 500?" "MOM I ONLY HAD 500!" or "uh... why are they glowing?" or having to run around because i'm getting lowballed, or you know the entire end goal of the game being a farmbot... I'm just surprised you guys didn't have a news article when it was all over about how I started the whole taylor farms cyclospora :P
Good job!
xD Mom taking all our money at the beginning is also one of the funny moments for us. Glad you enjoyed our game. Thank you for playing.
A fun take on the farming sim genre. I would have loved to see a calendar system (even just day/night or "next day") so I know when a shopkeeper is replaced. Great job overall!
That's actually a really interesting idea! I thought adding police feedback and the mom's dialog about reported shopkeepers getting replaced the next day would be enough but having a calendar with relevant markings would definitely make it more clear. Thanks for the review!
But i really thought i would win big prizes by giving away 10 000 coins :(
This was really good! I loved the cutscenes and sound effects :D Felt good to play, and very cute art
Haha getting scammed by depositing 10000 money was a very last minute idea, So it's nice to see it was a little unexpected.
The artist really worked overtime to get all the art and cutscenes done, I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the review!
Poor kitty why is her mom so mean :D I enjoyed the game, the art style is adorable! It was not so hard to make the money, but it was a bit ambiguous to me if the buyer is a scammer or not. I really liked it! Only thing the bothered me a bit was the plant label getting in the way of my view of what I'm clicking on
I'm glad you liked the game! Making earning money harder was something left for later by us, and we didn't get enough time to fiddle around with the prices, fines, crop growth and scammer rates :(( we'll try to add a balance patch so that the game is a bit harder. We'll also try to fix all the mentioned problems.
Thanks for playing the game!
