I like the visuals a lot, outside of the cats kind of blending into the background. I like the artstyle a lot and I'm impressed you made this in a week on your own!

I too play blood on the clocktower, and enjoyed the social deduction aspects of this, asking specific questions is an interesting take on the social deduction genre, but it adds a LOT of complexity VERY quickly. If you were to expand this, it could be worth keeping the deck really small at first with REALLY direct info, and adding cards that are more vague as you go.

But overall I liked it a lot!

The visuals were very nice, the game was perfectly polished, though it does get confusing and hard pretty quick.
But overall I loved it! I managed to save 31 cats which is pretty nice!

Submitted

wow! very impressed that you made this in a week! it was really fun playing, my only feedback is that the cats themselves do blend into the ground visually. everything else seemd very well-thought out and fun

Submitted

Very good game i used my brain for the second time 😊

First thing, I really loved the visuals when I first opened the game. The interface feels really smooth too. One concern, I think the cats blend in with the purple background, so I didn’t notice them right away. The gameplay is really fun, and I really enjoyed this deduction game!

I love the game and I also know the creators love their creation with all the polish poured into it.

Few improvements I would like to have:

  • Historian: What defines "Opposite"? What is #1 oppsite to, 5 or 6?
  • Messenger: What does this guy do? Does he give correct answer when asked about other innocent(s) like their position?
  • Puppeteer: What does 'the same adjacent character' mean?
  • The tagging UI clips out of the screen when I interact with lower cats.
  • The cats are hard to make out, as they blend into the background. Maybe some outline would help.
  • The cats meow twice when they die 🤣
  • 1 of the perks show true role per round; problem is I don't know which cat the role card is attached to. The cat's answer box sometimes overlap, but I can mouse over or hide all to know who it belongs to, that's not the case with the role card.
  • Why do some cats have blue/red circles under them? Is it to signal which cat I've chosen as innocent/evil last round? If so, it kinda disrupts the tagging and character selection of the next round.
  • Some cards have inconsistent writing, e.g. good characters/innocents and evil characters/demons (do they mean the same thing?

I only have this many complaints cuz it's a genuinely well-made game. Well done!

Thank you so much for testing the game and taking the time to leave such detailed feedback! I really appreciate it.

To clear up your questions about the roles and mechanics:

  • Historian: The rule takes the total number of characters and offsets it by half the total (rounded). Because I ran out of time during the jam to add role rules based on the player count, it gets confusing on round with an odd number of roles.
  • Messenger: They pick one random piece of information from all the innocent characters' info pool.
  • Puppeteer: They target a character directly next to them (left or right) and force them to act as a "Liar", making them give wrong answers instead of using their actual role.
  • Tagging UI: You're totally right, the UX gets messy at the bottom of the screen.
  • Cat Visibility: An outline shader would definitely help them stand out from the background good point!
  • Double Meows: That one's actually intentional! The idea was to play an attack meow ( two time) when an innocent cat gets attacked by a demon. 🤣
  • Role Card Perk: The UI gets really cluttered when there’s a lot of information on screen. I need a better way to display this maybe highlighting the corresponding card (role and question) instead of just put it in front when you hover over the role card would help .
  • Blue/Red Circles: These are meant to give visual feedback during the innocent/evil selection phase, but I forgot to reset them after the verdict... so yeah, definitely confusing as-is!
  • Inconsistent Wording: Good catch! I wasn't consistent with the terms for questions and roles. I'll definitely clean that up for the post-jam version.

Thanks again for this detailled feedback ! It means a lot.

Does the Messenger info change each round/each card usage or do they stay consistent?

I can think of assigning a different outline color for each cat and their UI, but idk if it looks good or not.

Thanks for the equivalent long reply lol.

Well polished and fun game. Just one thing to complain: I felt kind of overwhelmed by the copycat and the meow-mic classes because they open up so many possibilities

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback and for taking the time to test it! You're completely right. I ran a playtest session with a friend after the jam and noticed some issues with specific roles like the Copycat, the Meowmic, and the Puppeteer. After thinking it over, I feel I should target the players affected by these roles based on relative positions, like "Copy the role of the neighbor two spots to your left." This would feel less completely random while still letting players read the game by controlling the randomness a bit more.

Really well done! The gameplay was engaging and I enjoyed the card questioning mechanic. I think this is a really solid concept that can definitely go places.

I'm impressed that one person has made this in 7 days. The game has a very beautiful art style and the gameplay is polished. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you like the art style :D

Very good i must say im impressed by how enjoyable it got with the questions. It was hard to figure out what to do but after that first initial struggle i got the hang of it. Nice job! id love to see more fleshed out version of this.

Beautiful werewolf game.  I'll admit that I struggled through the initial complexity of figuring out what's going on.  But the art style is super great.

Thanks for testing and for your feedback!
To help me improve the game, I'm curious to know what wasn't clear to you.

Hi.  The tutorial was just overwelming.  Maybe make it with fewer cats and fewer options.

Developer(+1)

I've noted that; thanks for the feedback.

This reminds me a lot of Mafia/Werewolf - it was an extremely enjoyable game, & the lore behind it was cool!❤️

Developer(+1)

Glad you like it. Thanks you for playing !

It's fun game! I feel like there was a bit too much information for a tutorial, a round with maybe just three cats or something would have been useful. But overall, it's a great thing that the tutorial existed in this format at all. It was generally clear, but there was just too much information at once. Were you the creator of all art from scratch? The vibe of the game is really well built, you can feel the dreamlike atmosphere. Overall, it's an interesting approach to the topic. The 9 lives motif was used nicely, I think it fits the theme well. Good job! ♥

Developer

Thanks for testing and for your feedback! Yeah, I should definitely shorten the tutorial there's way too much information.

As for the art, all the 2D and 3D assets were made by me during the jam (except for one icon I used as a placeholder and forgot to replace). Glad you liked the vibe of the game.

Submitted

That's cool, I was just asking because it looks really polished, which is really impressive for such a short time!

Real cute werewolf villager game. Good job!

I really enjoyed this game and loved the visuals! The sound effects were also quite pleasant. I didn't have as much issue as other players regarding the purple background so I suspect that maybe it's a display quality parity (I'm using a Macbook).

I did however encounter some bugs (or feature, I'm not sure!) where cards did not disappear/update despite my attempts in resetting or playing a second round (when I failed to guess on the first round and lost HP, the second round cards did not update on the cats and it still showed the old cards).

Otherwise, love the spin on it being werewolf but cats!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Keeping the info between rounds was intentional. Roles don't change between lives, so the goal is to build on what you learned in previous rounds, making that info still valid. But yeah, the UI gets a bit chaotic when there are lots of characters!

Submitted

This is great all around, well executed and good visuals. My only complaint is that the cats are kind of hard to see on the purple background, but it’s also not important gameplay-wise.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes, the low contrast between the background and the cats was intentional to heighten the game's mysterious vibe, but it might not be visible enough.

Submitted

For years I though of turning the werewolf board game into a strategy game. Glad to see someone making such a solid attempt.

I really like what you did with this. Some cards are clearly a lot worse than other and roles are all other the place, but the core of the game has a lot of potential. What's there is pretty great.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed this Werewolf adaptation.

It’s the kind of game that, given its depth, requires a lot of rebalancing. But even at this stage, it’s a genuine game that makes you want to play again. The theme really shines through—kudos!

Developer

Thanks for playing ! :D

Awesome deduction game and nice visuals, though I feel too bad for that poor cat in the tutorial, and one innocent alley cat that knew nothing yet had to die just because of my mistake ;( I like how the difficulty increases and new roles are introduced gradually. Also insane amount of work for a game made in 1 week by a solo developer.
