At the start of the game jam, I had a pretty similar idea (story during playing cards), but I ended up switching to Papers Please style. Maybe that turned out to be for the best, because I doubt I would have been able to pull off a game of similar quality.

A very interesting take on the theme. While the gameplay loop itself is pretty simple, it stays enjoyable because of the story elements in between. Also the visuals and music make for a nice atmosphere.

Extremely polished art style! The pixel consistency really got me — everything looks so cohesive and well put together. Really nice entry with some seriously hooking gameplay!

Great job!

I did not expect a story game here so it was a pleasant surprise .  I really liked how you fit in the theme of the game with both the narrative and the gameplay. the pixel art and music were really cool too. kinda reminds me of coffee talk lol

Damn that was a sad ending to the story. Game looks really good!

Loved the art stlye. nice game controls feels good sfx too !

The art style is super good here! It definitely feels very polished, and the chill atmosphere is splendid. I didn't really get the mechanics for the dice game though (I'm not very well-versed in card/dice games), so I mostly just tried clicking random numbers and pressing raise/challenge whenever. Good job!

Chill vibes. Chill game. Well written. Well done

This was really well-executed in almost every way, I was really into the story and the dice game definitely spiced things up.  The music was good and the art was really nice.  Good writing and dialogue in general, which isn't easy.  I do have to say though, having to legitimately win every round of Liar's Dice for the "best" ending took a long time and got kind of frustrating since you had to replay the tutorial every time and skip so much dialogue.  If you could restart from after the tutorial that would have helped a lot.  Another possibility could be to cheat and just let them player win by rigging the game after X number of attempts, but I can understand why you wouldn't do that.  Other than that one frustration though, I really enjoyed this, wonderful job!

Thank you. And I played your game as well. Definitely a beautify rhythm game. With quite some innovation in the interaction design. Very well done. (itch.io seems to think I commented too many :( so I cannot comment under your game, I just relay the thought here.)

mixing the dice game with visual novel elements is a really cool idea! definitely made the game more engaging. i also liked the art and the sound effects were satisfying

Submitted

Really fun and engaging! The graphics, music and sound effects are all pretty good. I wasn't familiar with the dice game but the tutorial made it easy to understand. The writing is phenomenal, definitely the highlight of the game!

I'm not a big visual novel fan  so this was not exactly my cup of tea but that's on me.  The visuals themselves were really great though. Also liked the sound a lot when the dice got mixed again.

I've played your game as well. Definitely one of the best I played for this jam. I just love shop running games. And a pawn shop fits the theme right in. And outstanding completion with every aspects of the game in such a short time. (itch.io seems to think I commented too many :( so I cannot comment under your game, I just relay the thought here.)

Great game the art and vibes are fantastic!

Very climatic game! At first I tought its going to be a horror but it turned out to be a very cozy game with well written dialogues. GG!

Such a cute little game!! The music, visuals, and writing all work really well together. It made me feel like I was sitting in a small bar at night while it was raining outside, with this warm orange light keeping me safe inside.

The story was really engaging, and even as a non native English speaker I could still get immersed in it. I also really liked the dice mechanic. It adds just enough gameplay to a text heavy game ( some visual novels are basically just clicking to see the next line - why not  just make a video??).

Overall, really cozy and enjoyable to play!

Developer

Thank you so much. I'm a non native English speaker as well, so I tried to write the story using as little dictionary as possible. I personally cannot stand looking up dictionary while playing games too :)

I only have one problem the game it's a bit for confusing but overall good job

This game is genuinely incredible!I really like the feel of it.

Honestly WOW, I LOVED the atmosphere! I lost because I'm not very good at this type of game, but I really want to try and beat Kelvin! Hoping for a better ending :( ... p.s. I hope the cat was found!

Developer(+1)

I wouldn't consider losing to Kelvin as a bad ending. He is not a bad guy once you found out more clues by winning him once or twice. The cat was found! He's sitting right on my lap. (I drew the cat based on mine :) ).

Nice atmosphere, feels like a cozy hangout with a buddy at a bar. I like it!

Developer

Indeed the atmosphere I wanted to make. I initially wanted the game to be like cyberpunk bartender action and to slowly reveal clues over multiple days which all together make sense in the last day. However the jam time was limited so I had to scope it down to a one night story.

Submitted

Sounds cool! It's all in your hands, keep it up!

Wow, through and through felt like a polished experience and made me curious to replay and find out the other endings, twist was solid and i honestly didnt expect it, nice stuff

Developer

Glad you love it. I definitely spent quite large portion of my week writing the story. Good to see it work out well. My bro encouraged me to make this game and told me as long as one player wants replay, I'd already be success. Seems like I've earned it.
