Well Done

Developer

Thanks!

I really loved it. The atmosphere is incredibly well done! Great work!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it!

That was great! I really enjoyed it!

The visuals were awesome and quite creepy. I love the camera angles, they were so good and added a lot to the strangeness and creepiness of the whole environment. The interactions were strange, but in a very unsettling way which I think added a lot to the atmosphere.

I found it to genuinely be quite scary, and the ending gave me a proper jump scare, haha. Great job on the game.

P.S. I love that they live on Placeholder Street XD

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I tried so many things with camera, in the end I used worlds most chaotic settings. And it worked! In the image you can see the lens is 35mm but the sensor is set to 100. This moves camera back and much more things into perspective but also distorts it. Camera is at 2.3~~ meters height but the shot makes it feel like the staircase is 4-5 meters long.

I also put everything on the composition guide lines to make it good but the broken perspective breaks that sens of goodness. You know something is wrong but quite tell. This idea also shaped the whole game actually. Every interaction makes you question about the NPC's motivation. Well not os much cause it had to be kept short, but on the future releases I intend to put more lore and more meaningful dialogues. I'll make the game even weirder in the future.  Placeholder street will be known for it's weird atmosphere!

Thanks you so much for your comment!

Wow, thank you for the detailed explanation! The composition of the images was great so I figured you must have spent some effort getting it right, really cool to see behind the scenes. Looking forward to seeing where you take the game in the future!

Wow, this is really great. I really liked the music and the visuals. The character portraits instantly reminded me of the original *Max Payne*—total nostalgia. Overall, it gave me vibes similar to the old adventure game *Scratches*; there’s something intangibly similar about the atmosphere. The only thing that bothered me during my playthrough was that if a character's line of dialogue appeared and I kept moving around the house, the text wouldn't disappear automatically; it would just stay on the screen until I manually skipped it. But that’s not a major issue.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes I spessifically aimed for the PS1 era atmosphere, some lights and composition might be similar from those. For the dialogue, I prevented some of it but some always misses. I am thinking abour rewriting the code to prevent it totally. Cause I need to manually disable and enable teleportation during dialogues, which is not a great way. Thanks for you comment!

I really loved the modeling for this game! I looked at the description and saw it was made in Blender, I love the textures on everything. I think one critique I have is that I wish the pointer indicated where to move, talk, and interact with people. A simple hover over an object and show an open mouse would be fine but I think it's a small UI thing that would've made a point and click like this work. Also, I love that it's a point and click with 3D models used. I love to see mediums like this combined, it makes it more eerie and mysterious in some ways too.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I was thin king about highlighting the clickable areas but thought it could be done later, cause even if you randomly click you can find your way. But the pointer trick is a very good idea, I might implement that.

And as you mentioned, I made %90 things in Blender, now I'm remodelling everything to match my vision completely. Also to make it modular so it won't be a problem in the future. I got inspiration from older puzzle flash games, where you click and move between the screens. A modern approach on 3D models and lots of filters created a good combnination I believe. Thank you for your comment!

This game is heavy with atmosphere but light on gameplay. I'd expand on some of the mechanics like, asking people about clues, or ways to "Fail" by showing people the wrong clue or asking the wrong question. Good job with the modelling in such a short time

Developer

That's a good suggestion. I actually wanted to create more dialogue branches depending on the inventory but I put my time mainly on modeling. That's why I put the bloody knife but as you see we can't ask any questions about it. Katya mentions it briefly. But yeah, that's something I want to expand! Thanks for the feedback.

That's a really fun take that psx x visual novel style.

Good job !

Feel free to test our game !

Developer

Thanks! I will check out your game too.

Submitted(+1)

I liked the art style, audio fit well also. Good stuff!

Developer

Thanks! It's gonna get much better.

Submitted(+1)

Liked the atmosphere, in my opinion the visuals are te strongest point of the game.  Amazing you did all of this alone, incredible job.

Developer

Thanks! Blender really helped me!

Submitted(+1)

good visuals

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Story and atmosphere were cool, wish there were some mini games or something to break it up a bit but other than it was brilliant!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Minigames are my next goal after finishing the story.

Submitted(+1)

Really cool atmosphere and visuals. The story kept me hooked and the creepy vibe works great. The gameplay is simple but it fits the style. I enjoyed it a lot.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

Submitted(+1)

I liked the spooky atmosphere! I was pretty creeped out by the end. I like that the gameplay and graphics were simple, but effective. This was great!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah the mechanic is just enough since it's a kind of visual novel. The atmosphere and the story was my priority.

Submitted(+1)

You did manage to create an atmosphere and intriguing story :)

I would have added a trick so players can make mistakes and die/loose but maybe you didn't have time. I'm also learning solo dev, that's so much work ! And I don't know how you can learn coding AND 3d modelisation together that seems to be a lot of work :o

ps: I hated the young man so much I wanted him to be the deamon so I could bust him grrrrrr

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. I'm really glad that you liked the enviroenmnt and atmosphere. I wanted to create branches for the story but when I try to over achieve games tend be unfinished. But is my future plan! First I'm gonna lay out the whole story, then I will seek chances to deceive the player. Trust No One is theme afterall.

I've been learning Blender for over 4 months now and learning Unity for over 2 years. I'm still terrible at coding so I put the heavyload on modeling part. It was still a lot of work :D

About Mark... He really is a problematic guy :D You may discover more about him in the future.

Submitted(+1)

I hope I will discover more about Mark-the-dumbass and the story, now I want to know more. It's like playing a thriller (and also, I love narrative-driven games).

I've followed your account but I get a lot of e--mails, so feel free to write-back when/if you publish a new vorsion or ask for playtests ! I'm trying to learn solo-dev to make an income so I spend time on my computer and I think it's also a good way to learn when we're helping and supporting each other.

Your programming looked ok to me in the game and I'm impressed with your Blender skills. I don't think I could learn to do that in 4 months, so congrats !

Developer(+1)

I believe you gonna love Mark in the story :D I also followed you back, waiting to see what other projects you gonna do next! I am also improving myself as a solo dev so we really are similar in some terms. We could help each other in any way!

For the blender, it just takes practice, you know. I have now ~450~ hours on it. I learned most of my skills from Grant Abbitz, if you want to check out his youtube channel. Very great guy.

Thanks for reaching out like that again!

Submitted(+1)

Bahahah we'll see about Mark :p
I'll check your projects too, thanks for the reciprocal following. Are you trying other jams in September ? I'm trying to pick one or maybe two, but I want to follow one or two tutorials about game mechanics I don't know how to code yet (I think my next goal will be to learn turn-based tactics).

Thanks for your advice on Blender ! I'm more into 2D so I think I will rather try to learn drawing and/or pixel-art (yeah I know a lot of people do that), and I also want to catch-up a bit with game-design basics.

I'd be very happy to help each other nonetheless. And if you see me in another jam ping me, I'll rate your games ! (You can also add me on Discord, I have the same username on the jam's server)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, as long as I have time I will enter other jams.  /jam/gbjam-14 I will probably join this but I have no idea how to do a GB game, we'll see. Given that you want to to pixel art you may want to check it out! I also added you on Discord. Good luck in your journey!

I saw that, I have a bunch of messages to reply and other jam games to play but let's keep in touch !

I was thinking of 2-3 other jams in the same time-period, I'll have to make a decision. It will also depend on family stuff, I think I have step-father and step-brother at home during a week or so in September so I may choose my next jams depending on when they visit us.

The jams I'm thinking of for September/October so far are here if you want to have a look:

/jam/cybrpunk-jam-016

/jam/godot-wild-jam-97

/jam/alchemy-jam-10

/jam/comfy-jam-autumn-2026

I need to choose only one I think, this is so hard I want to do all of them !

(We can continue the discussion on Discord if you want ^^)

really liked the game . the unnerving that coming from this game is immaculate . i am looking for the future updates to this game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I tried really hard to create that uncanny-weird feeling. It's nice to see that people feel it. And I have already started on the devceloping the game further!

Submitted(+2)

I like the kinda playstation limited color style. Gabriel should be nicer

Developer

Oh yeah, he is a terrible guy :D Thanks for the comment!

Submitted(+1)

I loved the nostalgic uncanny atmosphere and the jumpscare at the end really got me haha, very cool game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Lady gonna be even more scary in the future!

Submitted(+1)

Quite fun! I really liked the visuals and atmosphere. The basement really creeped me out. Actually got a little scared a few times, also at the end! Excited to see more if you continue it. There were some small typos but nothing major, and given the amount of dialogue that's understandable.  Great job!

Developer

Thanks! I'm really glad you got scared. I wrote the dialogues moslty in the night half asleep. I realized the mistakes so much later :D  Thanks again.

Submitted(+1)

Well done! Nice visuals and atmosphere, I am actually looking forward to play the full release in the future. I was expecting to see an actual demon but still great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I was gonna include more of the storyline but to be safe I had to cut it short. Cause I also work at the same time. But don't worry, I started to model the demon already!

Submitted(+1)

Will sure play it again after the post-jam updates!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting story, makes you wanna keep clicking... the conversations could be a bit faster though. Still, nice idea and fun to play through.

Developer

Thank you so much  for playing! I will improve the story and dialogues in time.
