This was really fun. The character holding you hostage is very well animated and the mechanics are interesting. It took me a second to figure out the mechanics, most likely dropping food on the floor before figuring out I needed to hover the food over the taste prompt. Nice work!

This one is very funny and a great take on the theme! Good job (loved the dance at the end)!

my wife poisoned me D:

Realy like this one, very funny

Apart from some narrative that was confused by, I really liked this game! Fun sound effects, quick paced gameplay, and funny animations all made the game enjoyable to play. :)

The music is a bit off
I got hang of it soon
I love the gunshot
So it needs some work in terms of UI/UX
But very fun and love the art style!

Developer

Yo thank's for your comment !

Can you expand on why you feel that the music is off ?  📝

It should be slower, dramatic or a bit scary I guess to fit the visual but I think you wanted it to make players feel they need to play faster maybe!

Developer

Interesting !

The intent was to have something which remind the hard bass scene in Russia in terms of mood, and that it create a kind of mixed with the kind of horror scene you're experiencing, and most of all, have a BPM which fit to the gameplay pacing !

Good visuals and gameplay, although there are some observations:

1. The music doesn't fit the psychological horror aspect of the game at all, there's no tension build up and death has no impact because of that...

2. The story doesn't make sense, why did the main character become a food taster and has to buy his freedom in the first place?

3. Some sfx becomes annoying if there's too much interaction with the food.

Developer

Thanks, you are right for the SFXs, I added a cooldown on food sfx to avoid too much, but I was too permissive on my tweak. I will tweak it again after the jam :)

I've played +60 games so far and this has been one of my favorites. Gameplay was so polished and satisfying, also very well balanced, food models were nicely done and music/sfx was greatly matching the visuals. Nice take on the jam theme.

Omg thank's a lot ! Supper happy that you like it so much !

I really like the visuals and animations. It’s a pretty fun short game where you inspect food to see if it’s poisoned or not. The process of testing the food for poison can be intense, or you can eat it yourself to save time, but at some risk. Nice job on the game!

Great game, love the visuals, but very repetitive gameplay

Great game! Loved the visuals lol

It was so much fun that I didn't even realize I played it multiple times. I got to see both the lose screen and the win screen. The low-poly style suits the game really well, it creates an ambience. The game fits the theme nicely. I also loved the mechanic of dragging the foods. Excellent work for a 3 person team!

Very cool idea for a game. I love the creepy voice and ps1 graphic style. Personally I think the screen noise effect is to much. I get the atmospheric part but it make it hard to see stuff on the plate and got really stressful on the eyes.

It also took me a while to realize I could eat the stuff myself :D maybe I miss the explanation, but when I found out about it the game become really fun!

Great work!

This style is so damn cool!!! How did you even think of making the introduction on the page into this dynamic diamond-shaped screen? Nailed it!!!

The visuals really look like a broken TV screen, and have such a strong Russian vibe. The voice lines rushing you while you're tasting the food were really creepy tho 😭(LOVE IT!!!

One of the best games on this jam. Visuals are sublime, and game is well polished

It's fascinating how you managed to make experience dynamic without losing the horror tension
Would be cool to have other tactile mechanics like opening cans with food or heating it up in microwave while boss waiting for his food to be tested

Developer

Thanks !

The idea of oppening cans is really good ! Thanks for it !

Very funny concept, I had a blast!

Really unique  concept.  One of the best games I played so far. The atmosphere, artstyle and gameplay fit so well together. Great work!

This game is really cool, and a great concept. I only wish that it was longer! As soon as I was getting the hang of things, it seemed like my debt had already been paid off. Great visuals, hard bass, and wonderful gameplay. Nice work

Wow, this is so cool I’m at a loss for words! I’ve been sitting here playing it non-stop. It gave me *Buckshot Roulette* vibes but with a really fresh take. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing! The sound design and SFX are top-notch. Add multiplayer to the mix, and this game could really sell well. I still can't believe this was made for a game jam and that I'm playing it for free. Fantastic work, one of the best entries I've seen in the jam!

Developer

Thanks !!

I am curious, how would you saw it in multiplayer?  Cooperation with friends to tastes plates, or competition, like the quicker to have the good answer, or something else?

Submitted

You know *Machine Party*? It has a mini-game about eating peas, it would be cool to implement something like that. You’d just compete with friends on speed or on who gives the right (or wrong) answer, though it would be great to expand the mechanics and maybe add a variety of ingredients,  that’s really up to your vision, but a co-op element feels like a natural fit here.

Didn't know this game, I will take a look ! Thanks !
